Last month, we gathered in the heart of San Francisco for an unforgettable afternoon at the mom-owned Chandran Gallery, where we hosted a special lunch and conversation with visiting artist Shara Mays. In town from her new home in Cartagena, Mays welcomed our community into the immersive world of her exhibition, TORN UP, as guests dined on a beautiful spread of teas by Leaves and Flowers, colorful jams and wine (featuring Shara’s artwork), and pastries from Tartine. Seated beneath her suspended textile sculpture and surrounded by richly layered paintings depicting roots, the experience felt intimate and deeply meaningful—art, memory, and conversation woven together in one shared space.

Over lunch, we sat down with Mays for a live conversation that moved fluidly between life and work: raising two now-adult daughters, inspiration found in her new studio in Colombia, and the emotional depth embedded in her practice. She spoke about the personal roots of TORN UP, from honoring her grandfather’s labor as a house painter in the American South to the powerful act of naming—titling her works after names found on slave manifests as gestures of remembrance and reclamation.

It was an afternoon grounded in reflection, storytelling, and connection, with Mays’ work quite literally hanging above us as a reminder of the histories, landscapes, and legacies that shape her art.

Check out the gallery below to re-live our special event with Shara Mays at Chandran Gallery.

Last week, we gathered our MOTHER community for a celebration that felt both deeply personal and joyfully practical: a party with a purpose. To mark the opening of Framebridge’s brand-new Berkeley store—their second in the San Francisco Bay Area—we invited folks to do something we’d all been meaning to get around to anyway: finally frame the things that matter most.

While we’ve hosted a hundred-plus events over the years, this one stood out for its intention. Guests arrived not just to mingle, but carrying pieces of their lives—art prints and family photos, yes, but also photobooth strips, a great-grandmother’s delicate beaded purse, and even a child’s well-loved sweatshirt, ready to be honored as the keepsake it is.

The day also doubled as a preview of Framebridge’s Valentine’s Day offerings, designed to celebrate candid, heartfelt moments, from puffy heart-shaped gold frames to red- and pink-hued designs, plus their same-day walk-in service that lets you turn a digital photo into a framed gift on the spot.

Between framing consultations, guests sipped chai from Berkeley-based Elaichi, grabbed donuts from Donut Farm, and shopped all day knowing their purchases were giving back: a portion of proceeds benefited Creative Growth, the Oakland nonprofit that advances the inclusion and visibility of artists with developmental disabilities.

Scroll on for 60+ photos from the day—and if you’re feeling inspired, consider this your sign to visit a Framebridge near you (or online) and start the new year by framing what you love.

Over a decade ago, we met Erin Gleeson as she was on the brink of motherhood—pregnant with her first child, freshly profiled by MOTHER in 2014, and already enchanting us with the colorful, creative world of The Forest Feast. Fast forward to last year, and Erin returned to San Francisco (after moving to Wisconsin) as the author—and illustrator—of 5 vegetarian cookbooks, a mom of three, and celebrating the launch of her latest title, The Watercolor Feast: Learn To Paint Simple Fruits, Vegetables, & Edible Flowers.

To mark the occasion, we gathered some of our local community at the dreamy Case for Making shop—which sits just blocks from the Pacific Ocean and is a place where artists around the country snap up the brand’s renowned handmade watercolors and other art essentials. Case for Making‘s brand-new workshop space was the perfect venue to host an intimate watercolor lesson led by Erin herself.

Surrounded by florals and vibrant produce spilling down the center of the table, guests painted, sipped delicious spritzes by Aplós, and snacked on a bountiful fruit, veggie, and hummus spread by Little Sesame, created by Salo Salo.

To inspire a Watercolor Feast party of your own, scroll on for photos of our colorful day. 🎨✨

Earlier this month, MOTHER partnered with Crate&kids (once again!) to host a festive Winter Wonderland Party at South Coast Plaza in Orange County. Along with the rest of the mall, the Crate&kids space (their largest in the U.S.) was transformed into a joyful holiday hub for families—filled with thoughtful activities, cozy details, and plenty of seasonal cheer.

Guests explored a beautifully curated toy shop of engaging wooden toys by Wonder & Wise, enjoyed hands-on Hearth Display tutorials, and grazed on a festive spread by Bumo (created by CEO and mom of two Joan Nguyen Tran). While kiddos enjoyed holiday arts and crafts—parents sipped iced coffee from Jot’s holiday-inspired coffee bar. Each of our guests were invited to enjoy personalized stockings, wreaths, blankets, and stuffies with complimentary embroidery by LA Chainstitch.

The afternoon was rounded out with generous gift bags featuring goodies from Mudpuppy, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Tubby Todd, Sunnie, Stasher, Wonder & Wise, Cheerie Lane, Little Bellies, Kindred Bravely, Solely, and Embrace—plus, of course, magical moments captured with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Check out some of our favorite photos from our Winter Wonderland Party below!

Last month, MOTHER and Mommy’s Bliss gathered a vibrant community of new and expecting moms at the beautiful Café Sebastian in downtown San Francisco. Designed for mothers in the tender 0–2 stage—those newborn, infant, and toddler years when a lifeline matters most—the event offered a joyful mix of conversation, nourishment, connection, and much-needed self-care.

Guests enjoyed a delicious spread from Café Sebastian before diving into “new-mom speed dating,” a fun and thoughtful way to meet like-minded women navigating similar seasons of life.

Mamas could also slip away for a moment of pampering by Well People, stocking up on plant-powered and pregnancy-safe beauty essentials. Before heading home, our friends at Bumo treated everyone to coffee and matcha to-go, and we handed out gift bags thoughtfully tailored to new moms.

Inside each “Tired as a MOTHER” tote was a variety of goodies by Mommy’s Bliss, a board book by Hello!Lucky, a portable white noise machine by Yogasleep, stroller toys and stuffies by Follies, popcorn by Cheerie Lane, postpartum tea by Traditional Medicinals, chocolate bars by Magic Chocolate, a 2026 lunar calendar by Studio Tigress, a changing mat by Gathre, and a copy of Mom Your Way by Mommy’s Bliss CEO Yasmin Kaderali.

Last week, Bay Area–based eyewear brand Zenni celebrated the San Francisco launch of its innovative EyeQLenz with Zenni ID Guard at the city’s iconic Ferry Building. The gathering brought together creatives and thought leaders across multiple industries for an inspiring panel discussion with digital wellness educator Larissa May, integrative medicine physician Dr. Tiffany Lester, and Dr. Steven Lee (Director of Digital Innovation at Zenni) on guarding oneself in the digital world—from eye health and mental well-being to shielding one’s personal privacy.

Designed as an all-in-one defense system, the new EyeQLenz with Zenni ID Guard represents a first-of-its-kind fusion of vision protection and digital privacy to safeguard the wearer in today’s tech-driven age. This includes an all-in-one photochromic lens that not only filters 51% of blue light and blocks 100% of UVA/UVB rays, but also reflects near-infrared light.

Every detail of the launch event was deeply intentional, celebrating local community and craft. Guests enjoyed coffee by Lady Falcon Coffee Company, created custom glasses chains with DABL, sampled an awe-inspiring lens-themed dessert by Rivera’s Boulevard, and grazed on a vibrantly healthy spread from Ripen Co. Even the florals by Natalie B. Designs echoed the subtle pink hue of the EyeQLenz with Zenni ID Guard—a perfect touch of local artistry and design innovation.

Guests left the event more educated and aware of eye health, wellbeing, and privacy concerns in the digital age—and with a bag of wellness-themed goodies by Eyegenic, Blue Lagoon Iceland, and—of course—a brand-new pair of EyeQLenz with Zenni ID Guard lenses to take into their everyday lives.

Check out over 80+ photos from this unforgettable event below!

Sometimes things are so nice, you have to do them twice. That’s exactly how we felt after our joyful “Summer of YES” event in Austin earlier this year—so we teamed up with our friends at GoodPop once again, this time bringing the fun to the West Coast with a sunny Los Angeles edition.

Co-hosted by MOTHER and GoodPop, the L.A. stop of our “Summer of YES” series took place at the cheerful and color-filled Club Joyful in Venice, where an inspiring group of families gathered for a day designed around one simple idea: what happens when parents say “yes” a little more?

From popsicles for breakfast (thank you, GoodPop!) to mud-pie making with HAWKs—every detail was curated to spark joy for kids and ease for parents. Guests were greeted with a “YES Passport” and invited to explore a lineup of feel-good activities—including face and body art by OOLY, color-changing bandages from Welly, fancy beads and body gems by Super Smalls, and a variety of nature crafts led by the wonderful team at HAWKs.

Families also captured sweet memories with portraits by The Pod Photography, donned popsicle-themed pieces by Mon Coeur, and noshed on a waffle bar by Evergreen, a hummus-centric spread by Little Sesame, yummy s’mores by Sunnie, festive coffee drinks for parents—and kids—by Club Joyful, and sparkling beverages from Juni.

Check out our L.A. event with GoodPop in the 100 party pics below!
